Shane Newville’s “Samurai Showdown” has been chosen as the theme song for CW’s new hit television series “The Beautiful Life: TBL.” The show stars Sara Paxton, Benjamin Hollingsworth, and Mischa Barton and centers around the lives of high-fashion models and the high-stakes competitive nature of the fashion industry.

“Samurai Showdown” debuted on Formless, Newville’s premiere release from Syntax Records. The album showcased the musician’s flair for mixing energetic hip-hop and electronic music. With a background in sound engineering, Shane Newville is a master at crafting the perfect beats.

Before joining Syntax Records as an artist in 2004, Shane was a member of their street team promoting other artists’ music. He went on to attend SAE Institute, a top school of audio engineering, before joining Syntax Records as a full-time staff member. His demo for Formless is what caught the attention of Syntax, and they signed him without changing a second of his masterpiece. In addition to his own projects, Newville has mixed and edited for many other talented artists both in house as well as for others. His work has also been included in several films and television spots, most recently featured in a Panasonic Camcorder commercial that aired on several major television networks nationwide.

Catch his song “Samurai Showdown” when “The Beautiful Life: TBL” premieres on CW Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 9/8C. There will be an encore broadcast on Friday Sept. 18th.

To Whom It May Concern,

We would like to share with you an exciting upcoming opportunity for Syntax Records. Maxim Borovikov the director of Youth Ministry for Youth For Christ in St. Petersburg, Russia has requested for us to utilize our gifts, talents, and passion for Hip Hop as a tool to engage people in the presentation of the Gospel. Maxim stated that Hip Hop has become the language of the Russian Youth, and we were not surprised to hear this since CNN and other credible news outlets have been reporting Hip Hop as “Global Culture” since 2001.

We have chosen to send three (3) people from our team on this initial trip, and have plans to return on an annual basis, increasing the amount of people who go each year. Perhaps you will be on one of the future trips!

In addition to serving Youth For Christ, we will also be serving Youth With A Mission and The Salvation Army while in Russia. Something we are looking forward to during our time out there will be attending and performing at the Prishestvie Festival which is the largest Christian Music festival in all of Russia. This also serves as an excellent outreach platform in which we will be inviting everyone we come into contact with while out there.

We are in great need of your prayer. Please begin praying for us now and throughout the dates of our trip. Our trip will be from November 16th through 23rd 2009, and we will be leaving from San Diego, CA.

If you feel led to support us in financially read on, if you do not please skip the following paragraph.

We have estimated this trip to cost around $3000 per person, for a grand total of $9,000. We understand times are hard for everyone right now, so we wanted to sweeten the deal with a fun and unique way to engage you in this trip. For every 10$ you send, we will send you a Syntax CD of your choice, and Syntax will match that CD and send it to Maxim in Russia to be given away while we are there as well as long after we are gone.

So… instead of giving us money for a plane ticket (boring!), you are buying CD’s for yourself, AND for your Russian neighbors! For the sake of clarity, we are not getting paid to travel or perform, and will not be selling merchandise while we are there. Please make your donation payable to “Syntax Records” and put “Russia” in the memo area and mail it to the address below.

For those of you who skipped the previous paragraph, welcome back!

Thank you so much for co-laboring with us on this wonderful journey. We covet your prayers deeply as we take on this mammoth task and journey well out of our comfort zones.

Sincerely,
Timothy J. Trudeau – President
Jeremiah Bonds – Artist / Customer Development

Skating at skate-parks is hands down about having fun. A Day At The Park is a portrait of the skateboard scene from over 30 skate-parks in the greater Seattle area.

The film covers the parks themselves and the locals who skate them, shot by some of the most involved skateboard filmmakers in the area. The film packs some of the most memorable and innovative feats that have occurred across a six year time-span and paints a picture of what the Seattle skate scene is like from the perspective of it’s local parks.

From playing a game of skate with some pals, fitting in a last trick at dusk, to learning a new combo, these skate-parks serve as a safe haven for the local skaters. They function as training grounds, meeting spots… that place to push the sport just that extra notch. Witness new talent arise and older generations still shredding it alongside them. See footage from new parks that’ve appeared on the map, classic ones that’ve passed away, and the parks that have remained favorites over time.

In addition to the feature film, the DVD contains an in-depth guide of each featured park including location information, detailed photos and bonus footage. Also included are a gallery showcasing the film talent in the area and a section to appreciate the shops and industry that support the Sea-town skate culture.

So whether you live in Seattle, are planning a visit, or are just curious about what the area has to offer in terms of concrete and wood… check out A Day At The Park featuring much of the Syntax Records catalog as its sound-scape.

Joshua Fest, the popular three-day, camp-style rock festival, has partnered with Syntax Records for a sixth straight year. The label has been affiliated with the event since its inception.

In addition to running the official Joshua Fest merchandise booth, offering a physical version of their QualityJunk.com music store, and helping to market and promote the event, Syntax will be contributing musical talent.

Alongside a lineup of Mxpx, Family Force Five, Emery, Project 86, Seventh Day Slumber, Falling Up, Showbread, The Classic Crime, Every Day Sunday, and Above the Golden State, you can expect to see Kaboose, Odd Thomas, Propaganda, and Jeremiah Bonds represent the world of hip hop.

“They have co-labored with us since the beginning and Joshua Fest 2009 will be no exception,” JF co-founder Chris Spano said. “It just wouldn’t be the same without our Syntax friends.”

“Joshua Fest is the type of festival I think about all year long,” Syntax Records President Tim Trudeau said.

“I’ve never seen anything like it. The community atmosphere of strangers becoming friends over the shared experience of bonfire meals and great music performed with a 360º view of the Sierra Mountains is just surreal.”

This year’s event will take place September 4 – 6 at Quincy, California’s Plumas-Sierra County Fairgrounds. To purchase tickets, please visit www.itickets.com.

About JoshuaFest:
Since 2003 Joshua Fest has prided itself on being an affordable family-friendly rock festival. Attendees come together in the Sierra Mountains to enjoy more than 50 bands over a three-day span of music, camping, fellowship, and worship. For more information check out www.joshuafest.com
